Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 28, 2026
This policy explains what information Abis Hibachi & Japanese Restaurant (“Abis,” “we,” “us”) collects through abisgreenwichct.com (the “site”), how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers this website only. It does not cover our restaurant, phone orders, or the delivery apps and social networks we link to, which have their own policies.
The short version
- We don't use cookies, advertising trackers, or tracking pixels on this site.
- We collect personal information only when you choose to send us a catering or party request.
- That request comes to us as an email. We use it to reply to you and plan your order or event.
- We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
Information you give us
When you use the catering request or hibachi party request form, we receive:
- your name and email address (required);
- your phone number and company name (optional);
- the occasion, date, and number of guests; and
- your message.
Please don't include sensitive personal information you don't need to share. If you tell us about a food allergy or dietary need, we use it only to plan and prepare your order or event safely. By including it, you consent to that use.
If you call us, email us, or message us on social media, we receive whatever you choose to share.
Information collected automatically
Basic technical data. Like every website, our hosting provider, Cloudflare, receives technical information when your browser requests a page. This includes your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for, and the time. Cloudflare uses it to deliver the site, keep it secure, and block attacks. Our site's own technical logs are kept for about a week and are used only to fix problems.
Website statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure how quickly pages load. It does not use cookies or store anything on your device. It does not build a profile of you, and Cloudflare says it does not keep your IP address for this purpose. We see only totals, such as how many people viewed the menu page.
Spam protection. Our request forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-focused check that tells people apart from automated bots, usually without a puzzle. Turnstile processes technical signals, such as your IP address and browser details, only for this security purpose. It does not read what you type into the form.
Cookies
This site does not set cookies, and we don't use advertising or cross-site tracking technology. That's why you don't see a cookie banner.
One exception is outside our control. Our Home and Visit pages include an embedded Google Map. When it loads, Google receives your IP address and browser information, and Google may use cookies or similar technology under the Google Privacy Policy, especially if you are signed in to a Google account. If you'd prefer not to load it, use our street address, 381 Greenwich Ave, Greenwich, CT 06830, in any map app.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- reply to your request and plan, price, and provide your catering order or event;
- contact you about that request by email or phone;
- keep the site working, secure, and free of spam; and
- understand, in total, which pages people use, so we can improve the site.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not add you to a marketing list unless you ask us to.
Who handles your information
We share information only with the service providers that run this site for us, and only so they can do that job:
| Provider | What it does for us | Information involved |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare, Inc. | Hosts the site, delivers form emails (Cloudflare Email Sending), spam protection (Turnstile), website statistics (Web Analytics) | Technical data; the contents of your request while it is being delivered |
| Google LLC | Hosts our restaurant email inbox (Gmail), where your request arrives; provides the embedded map | Your request (in our inbox); technical data from the map |
| Sanity, Inc. | Stores the site's text and photos and serves images | Technical data needed to deliver images (e.g. IP address) |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our guests, staff, or business, or as part of selling or transferring the restaurant.
Links to Uber Eats, DoorDash, Grubhub, Instagram, and Facebook take you to those services. What you do there is covered by their privacy policies, not this one.
We don't sell or share your information for advertising
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for targeted (cross-context behavioral) advertising, and we don't profile visitors. Because we don't do these things, there is nothing to opt out of. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out, and our practices already meet it.
Do Not Track
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. Because this site doesn't track visitors over time or across other websites, it works the same whether or not that signal is on. Third-party content, namely the embedded Google Map, is governed by Google's own practices.
How long we keep information
- Your request: kept in our email inbox as long as we need it to respond, provide your order or event, and keep normal business records, then deleted. We generally keep requests no longer than two years after your event.
- Site technical logs: about 7 days.
- Website statistics: totals only, not linked to you.
The website itself does not keep a separate database of form submissions.
How we protect information
The site is served over encrypted HTTPS connections. Form requests go straight to our email and are not stored on the website. Access to our email and website accounts is limited to people who need it. No method of sending or storing information online is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you send us.
Children's privacy
This site is meant for adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Parents and guardians planning a kids' birthday party should fill in the request themselves. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you whether we have personal information about you, and give you a copy;
- correct it;
- delete it; or
- stop using it for any purpose you've consented to, such as allergy information.
Depending on where you live, laws such as the Connecticut Data Privacy Act may give you these rights. We honor these requests from anyone, wherever you live. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm it's you, for example by replying from the email address you used, and we will respond within 45 days. Requests are free. If we decline your request, we will explain why, and you may appeal by replying to our decision with the word “Appeal.” We will respond to an appeal within 60 days. If you are a Connecticut resident and remain unsatisfied, you may contact the Connecticut Attorney General. We will never treat you differently for using these rights.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also add a short notice on the site's home page for a reasonable period. We won't use information we've already collected in a materially new way without your consent.
